The paste will be stored in a glass container for 5 to 7 days.
A small amount of paste is used at a time. Mixed with water to the consistency of runny mayo it is ready to apply to the hinge.
Hinging materials: mulberry paper, cotton blotters and acrylic pieces, paste brush.
Mulberry paper is torn into strips, this is the hinge.
A small amount of paste is applied.
The smallest amount of pasted mulberry paper will adhere to the artwork.
Making sure the mulberry paper is saturated with paste.
Applying pressure to the hinge with a cotton blotter draws moisture away from the artwork and dries the hinge.
The hinge is in position and will be pressed under a weight for 6 to 12 hours.
