Terrace Mountain

46.  Phoenicia East Branch Trail

Katy and I got an early start on our second day as we hiked to the summit of Terrace Mountain.  I read my map backwards, my original plan was to visit Giant Ledge and Panther Mountain, Katy and I will have to meet again so she can see those places.  Hike 46 was a 6.4 mile out-and-back hike with an elevation gain of about 1600 feet.  The day was perfect!  Katy is a great hiking partner.  We had lot’s of fun and laughs on the trail and great conversation. We will definitely be making a similar trip to this area of NY in the future.  I have a great love for the Catskill Mountains.  I’ve been to the summit of Slide Mountain and walked along the trails that John Burroughs walked along and soaked my feet in the Esopus Creek.  There is something so special to me about this place and I will visit any chance I get.  After our hike we spent our last hour together having a delicious meal at the Phoenicia Dinner, a place not to be missed.  Thanks Katy, for taking the time out of your busy schedule to traipse with me!!
