No. 10 Hawkwatch at Wildcat Ridge WMA
This hike was a 2.5 mile loop in the Wildcat Ridge Wildlife Management Area and not the one I was planning. Originally, I was going to start at Split Rock Reservation and do a 4 mile loop on the Split Rock/Four Birds Trails. But, I was accosted by news reporters in the trailhead parking lot who wouldn’t take no for the answer to their request for an interview. The day before a scout master entered a cave and was attacked by a bear defending his winter home. The bear claimed self-defense and was acquitted of all charges. I was not disappointed on this shorter jaunt. I will definitely visit Hawkwatch again in the spring to hopefully see some migrating birds. From a half dozen trees with buck scrapes (no shed antlers) to a couple dozen enormous fallen trees to the pond with 4 different beaver lodges, there was so much to see!
@ the Shop
Miller and I celebrated the 4th week of Advent and lit the candle of peace with some friends, but I forgot to take a picture. We’ve been super busy at the shop. But we’re still having fun with friends and visitors and framing.
Merry Christmas everyone!
